Testimonials for Design Thinking Team & Entrepreneur Workshop

I loved that this taught Design Thinking + Process through an actual project. It was really perceptive to think about the end customer and practicality of the end product for them the entire time while designing/making. This workshop was great. Honestly, I was really intimidated going in I’d never made jewelry before. I loved that you were constantly reminding me that it was ok to fail and that failing is part of the design process.

It was very calming and the constraints of materials made it more interesting of a challenge to design a piece of jewelry for my customer segment. The ability to utilize stones from my neighbor was great and allowed me to elevate the piece with further touches. It was a wonderful exercise for me as a creative and business owner/designer. 10/10 would do again.

This workshop was such a fun way to practice design thinking. Since I have never designed jewelry before, I was able to see how user first principles can unlock my creativity in areas I don’t know very well. On top of that, I picked up a new craft skill. I consider this workshop a great way for teams to better collaboratively problem solve and be creative together since understanding constraints is a full team sport. I highly recommend this to any team currently stuck in a “how it’s been done before” processes. You have to get creative, pick up something new, and make it work... which in the end is exactly what any team needs to do.

I LOVED my first ‘Make It Work’ workshop with Alyson! She had such a calm, measured way of teaching - her openness, and ability to embrace failure as a learning tool was especially helpful, and made me get out of my head and really enjoy the design process. The workshop encouraged us to think critically about our audience, and what decisions would best serve them, which is hugely important and necessary when trying to market or sell a brand or product. I’m excited to see how I can apply the skills I learned in this class on an upcoming project!

I enjoyed learning about different ways to communicate and critique, and the act of crafting itself. It’s always lovely to connect with other women. Alyson was a great leader.

I had a great time at the Make It Work workshop. This definitely challenged me to think about a problem I wouldn’t otherwise think about. It was also nice to collaborate with people from different industries and get new perspectives. As someone working on their own, this is crucial to my own personal development and growth
